Bill pit guard waterproof and corrosion-resistant material

The corrosion protection system that protects concrete structures from environments containing a mixture of organic and inorganic acids is called "Bill Pit Guard."

Recent changes in lifestyle have led to an increase in the concentration of organic acids (such as fatty acids, acetic acid, lactic acid, propionic acid, etc.) in wastewater, along with higher inflow temperatures, which have become factors in the corrosion of concrete facilities. Traditionally, corrosion prevention for concrete has been achieved by coating the concrete surface with a lining material that meets the quality standards specified in the corrosion prevention technology manual by the sewerage corporation. However, the current quality standards set by the sewerage corporation focus on resistance to sulfuric acid (inorganic acid) derived from hydrogen sulfide gas, and do not address resistance to organic acids. It is explicitly stated in the manual that the effectiveness against organic acids and similar substances has not been considered. Additionally, various cleaning agents and chemicals such as hypochlorous acid and sodium hypochlorite are mixed with organic acids in these building pits. As a result, significant corrosion of the corrosion protection layer due to organic acids has been reported, particularly in the liquid phase and especially in the water intake areas of building pits. Under such conditions, the 'Building Pit Guard' corrosion prevention system demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance performance.
